- Abstract
Since the mid-20th century until now, the notion of populism appeared in multiple theoretical and political debates. In this article we took Ernesto Laclau's work as a central reference in the field. From that perspective, populism is understood as a logic of political articulation based on the construction of the people. This text pretends to argue that the political identity of the Movimiento Al Socialismo - Instrumento Político por la Soberanía de los Pueblos (MAS-IPSP) has been redefined according to a populist articulation. It is characterized by the construction of equivalences between different demands, the settled of political frontiers, and the protagonism of those sectors historically excluded which now tend to consolidate a new block of power. Nevertheless, those processes couldn't take apart from frictions and tensions.
