- Abstract
The article discusses the results of the study that determined if the depth of flooding in mid-southern states in the U.S. affected the numbers of rice water weevil, Lissorhoptrus oryzophilus and the yield of rice. The study showed fewer Lissorphoptrus oryzophilius larvae collected from rice in shallow-flooded plots, with the number reduced by as much as 27 percent. A discussion on how shallow floods could be used as an integrated pest management program for Lissorhoptrus oryzophilus is given.
