- Abstract
The article discusses reactions to efforts by the Australian government to address domestic violence and child abuse in Aboriginal communities, and comments on the issues of separatism, paternalism, and neocolonialism. The argument that paternalism is inherent in the idea of government social services and that all groups must adhere to an acceptable level of human rights protection is also offered.
