There is a thriving community of sidelined, hard-done-by queer folk to whom I can give back as an academic: a new frontier in entomological outreach, where we are not asking how drag queens can bolster entomology, but how entomology can bolster queer communities. Insects have long inspired art, and so it's perhaps unsurprising that art can act as a spectacular vehicle for communicating entomology as scientists, educators, and extension agents.
