- Abstract
The article offers a perspective on the competition among scientists to find a gene of dominant negative effect in wheat. It cites the difficulty to employ the single-exon gene WPA1/APA2/SP1/RG1, which carries the von Willebrand factor domain and is sensitive to ethyl methanesulfonate (EMS)-mutation, in wheat selection and breeding. It refers to the east of generating and spotting the mutant and the importance of the traits as reasons for the pursuit by scientists of the gene WPA1/APA2/SP1/RG1.
