- Abstract
The development of customized fabrics for the production of 3D components made of fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) has been investigated. Standard fabrics lead to undesired distortions and wrinkling. By integrating structurally stable areas and using diagonal ORW threads, the formability can be controlled specifically. A CAE process chain has been developed to validate the design and implementation of these customized fabrics. The results show improved formability of the structures and a reduction in the deviation of the thread layers. The development of this process chain enables cost reduction in the production of FRP structures.
