- Title
Sailing on air toward decarbonization targets.
- Authors
Gauntlett, Trevor
- Abstract
The article focuses on the concept of air lubrication for ships and other water-borne vessels as a means to reduce carbon emissions and increase energy efficiency. It discusses the use of air bubbles to decrease the viscous resistance of water, leading to energy savings and reduced exhaust emissions. It highlights the challenges of maintaining a consistent flow of air bubbles and explores the potential of air lubrication systems (ALS) to be retrofitted to existing vessels.
