- Authors
Hutchings, Mark; Cano-Echevarría, Berta
- Abstract
The article discusses female masquers and diplomacy between England and Spain from 1603-1605. According to the author, with the accession of James as king of England, there were many protestants of his long-term policy towards Spain but it was the influence of his Catholic queen, Anna of Denmark that was most feared. A specific role and by extension an important political space for the ladies of the court was secured by Anna through the court masque.
