- Abstract
The reception of the parent in prenatal consultations is crucial for the health of the mother and the baby. This research explores the challenges involved in the procedures of welcoming parents by nurses during prenatal care in Basic Health Units. As highlighted by Rocha et al. (2022), the preparation and training of nurses in the process of welcoming the parent during prenatal care are essential to ensure the proper inclusion of the parent during care. The methodology adopted in the research is given through a literature review, the nature of the research is exploratory and the content has an explanatory and qualitative narrative. The structure of the text is delineated by arguments based on scientific articles, term papers, official documents with recommendations from the Brazilian Ministry of Health, and other periodical publications that describe and apply the theme in the area of health in Brazil. Thus, the study highlights the importance of clear public policies and effective strategies focused on overcoming these challenges and promoting positive and consistent changes with regard to nurse training. However, it is also proposed that it is essential to review the current protocols established by the Brazilian Ministry of Health in relation to adequate prenatal care, in order to promote awareness on the subject.
