- Abstract
This article describes an experience of applying gamification using the Kahoot! as a pedagogical tool for Elementary School students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Investigating its benefits and challenges, this study provides insights into the potential of gamification in online education. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the challenges of remote teaching drove the search for alternative pedagogical strategies to increase student engagement. This study analyzes the implementation of the platform, by integrating playful elements and quiz design into the learning process, specifically in a Brazilian public school. In summary, gamification presented itself as a promising pedagogical tool, reinforcing the need for adaptability and innovation in education, especially in times of crisis. Initial results indicate a significant increase in student engagement, reflected in active participation and improved assessments. This article therefore sought to explore a practical experience of gamification in Elementary School I during the critical period analyzed, reflecting on its triumphs, challenges and implications for the future of pedagogy.
