- Abstract
During the twentieth century, cancer death numbers and percentages of cancer death in mortality have strongly increased, while cancer mortality rates have decreased since 1980. Recent data analysis (2000–2003) can help to confirm these trends in France. Numbers of death and cancer weight in all death continue to increase while lethality decreases. Cancer is now the major cause of death for the 40–75 year's old people. Different trends can be observed for each cancer: mortality decline for stomach, aerodigestive or colorectal but mortality increase for skin, central nervous system or lung (only women). Inversion curves for lymphoma have to be confirmed. Spatial disparities are always very significant in France, both for men and women.
