- Abstract
There is no consensus in the field of finance on the relationship between financial education/literacy and financial behavior, evidencing a research gap in understanding such contradictory results. This article aimed to present the results of an integrative review on the impact of financial education/literacy on people's decision-making from the perspective of Behavioral Finance. The results revealed that the existence of contradictory results can be explained by the lack of contextualization of financial education/literacy. Several underlying moderators were found that influence the perceived effect of education and literacy interventions. Furthermore, theoretical constructs that explain the forms of intervention and strategies for moderating such effects were evidenced. This work provides a holistic view of the relevance of financial education/literacy in decision-making. It is believed that this article can serve as a reference for the construction of new research and more effective financial education practices.
