- Abstract
The Northeastern dairy basin is one of the main regions of greater milk production and industrialization in the province of Córdoba. However, is not available a correct characterization of the production systems. For this, we analyzed the differences in the composition of the diets, the surface of the establishments, the distance to the pavement, the level of equipment, the capital improvements and the composition of the rodeo in milking parlours with different level of technology. The objective of this work was to determine the characteristics of the milking parlours in the northeastern basin of Córdoba through the productive structure, the fodder base and the rodeo composition. We worked with a database of 2070 establishments of the 3253 in the province. Two categories M1 and M2 were established which represent smaller and larger scale. In turn, they were subdivided into high and low production, resulting in four production models. This basin has establishments with productive systems with a high heterogeneity between them that confers a great variability in the area. The model of smaller scale and low production presents a fodder base composed mainly of alfalfa. The model of smaller scale and high product presents a productive structure with greater improvements and a high percentage of alfalfa and silo. The model of larger scale and low production is characterized by using a diet with low participation of forage silo and concentrates.
