- Abstract
Through bibliographic review, hypothetico-deductive and analytic-synthetic methods, inserted in law and interculturality's social purpose, on the social law and public politics subarea, this article aims the study of orthothanasia on the Human Rights point of view and the analysis of orthothanasia in Brazil, demonstrating its reception by the Brazilian Legal System and its possible legal implications, and also if this practice can be considered as a dignified end to terminal patients. This debate has become necessary because terminal patients deserve to have their autonomy, liberty and dignity respected in the end of life. Therefore, this research showed that the Brazilian Legal System accepted orthothanasia, however the lack of appropriate regulation makes doctors feel unsafe and uncertain about practicing orthothanasia. The research also showed that orthothanasia respects Human Rights by respecting the Human Being Dignity on all its traces. By the end of the research, considering that it enables the patient to decide how he will die, it was possible to conclude that orthothanasia can be recognized as a dignified end of life.
