- Abstract
The experiment was to optimize the extraction process and antioxidant activity of total flavonoids from walnut peel by response surface method. The extraction process of total flavonoids from walnut peel was optimized by Box-Behnken design response surface test on the basis of single factor test, with four single factors as independent variables and the yield of total flavonoids as dependent variable. The results showed that the optimal extraction parameters were ethanol concentration of 70%, liquid-solid ratio of 20 mL/g, extraction temperature of 60 ℃ and extraction time of 40 min. Under these conditions, the extraction rate of total flavonoids from walnut peel was 6.13%. Antioxidant tests showed that when the concentration of flavonoids from walnut peel was 1.0 g/L, the scavenging rates of DPPH free radical and hydroxyl free radical were 94.98% and 89.89%, respectively, indicating that total flavonoids from walnut peel had strong antioxidant activity. The study indicates that total flavonoids from walnut peel has strong antioxidant activity in vitro, which can be used as natural green antioxidant additive.
