- Title
Reframing "the Foreign TA Problem" as "the American Listener Problem".
- Abstract
The author offers insights on a study published within the issue which highlighted the language proficiency requirements for international students that work as teaching assistants (TA) at the University of Minnesota. Topics discussed include the evolution of the language policy involving international TA, the need to address discriminatory linguistic practices in higher education, and the raciolinguistic ideologies with regard to the way listeners perceive foreign accents.
