- Abstract
The article discusses the need for innovation in professional military education and describes how the U.S. Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy (AFSNCOA) implemented changes to incorporate innovation into its curriculum. The academy collaborated with Project Mercury, a partnership between Air University, the University of Michigan, and the Innovatrium consulting firm, to develop new lessons on Design Thinking and problem-solving. The curriculum was further revised to include lessons on creative thinking and innovation, which had previously been absent from enlisted professional military education. The article emphasizes the importance of partnerships, real-world projects, and digital literacy in fostering innovation in military education.
