- Abstract
Eri silk fibres degummed in chemical method and these fibres are not opened properly during spinning process and due to this, it can give as slubs on spun silkyarn. Thus, the overall quality of spun silk yarn gives more unevenness and imperfections. In this study, the novel method of degummed eri fibres has been used for spinning and has an advantage of easy spinnability. Also, this method yields higher yarn realization, higher tenacity compared to yarn produced with conventional (soap-soda) degummed eri silk. With reference to breaking elongation of yarn produced by novel method gives higher elongation % compared to conventional method. This is also true with yarn quality of evenness and imperfections.
