TELEVISION IN THE CLASSROOM: PRODUCING THE NEWS FOR USE IN AN EDUCATIONAL FORUM.

- Abstract
This content analysis examines stories in two newscasts produced specifically for viewing by children and adolescents in an educational forum to discover whether news producers observe theoretical considerations related to learning in manipulating four story production variables: category, form, pace, and length. Results indicate that the newscast produced for children reflects learning theory principles to a greater degree than the newscast produced for teenagers. The teenage newscast was more similar to an adult newscast, which was analyzed for the same variables and compared to both the children's and teen's newscasts.
