- Abstract
The double-bubble sign, which represents a dilated fluid-filled stomach and duodenum, was described more than 40 years ago in the prenatal diagnosis of duodenal atresia (DA)1. In the first fetus, presence of the C-shaped sign indicated that the stomach and duodenum were dilated, filled with withheld mucosal secretions, thus suggesting that the fetus had concomitant EA and DA (Figure 1a). (a) The C-shaped sign () signifies the dilated stomach and duodenum, which are filled with withheld mucosal secretions as a result of the atretic esophagus and duodenum.
