- Title
Joseph Smith's "Polyandry": Expanding the Narrative.
- Authors
Hales, Brian C.
- Abstract
This article examines the question of whether Joseph Smith, the founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, practiced polyandry, or having multiple husbands. It explores various accounts and documents related to Smith's sealings to legally married women and the reactions to these sealings. The article also discusses the historical context and societal views on polyandry. While there is evidence of Smith being sealed to legally married women, there is no conclusive evidence to determine the nature of these relationships. The article suggests that further research is needed to gain a better understanding of the dynamics involved.
