The article discusses the evolution in the writing of interdisciplinary Mormon history. Topics covered include the bipartisan views of the 1800s dominated by faith claims and polemics, the use of tools of social history in the 1960s and 1970s, the nature and reasons for the shift away from the New Mormon History and the tools, method and theories that can be used by those writing Mormon history.
