- Abstract
The article examines the mechanism of glomerular immunoglobulin A (IgA) deposition via mucosal immunity in several kinds of GATA-3 transgenic (Tg) mice with a Th2-dominant immunological background. Non-immunized GATA-3/TCR-Tg and wild littermates/TCR-Tg mice did not show any positive findings for IgA nephropathy. GATA-3/TCR-Tg mice orally immunized with ovalbumin and cholera enterotoxin showed mesangial cell proliferation, mesangial matrix expansion and glomerular IgA/C3 deposition. Findings indicate that Th2-dependent mucosal immunoresponses may play a key role in glomerular IgA deposition.
