- Abstract
In this article, the author focuses on findings of studies on lean and obese patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NFLD). The author states NAFLD as the hepatic manifestation of the metabolic syndrome, typically a problem of the obese, and mentions that hepatic steatosis and steatohepatitis are distinct in lean patiets from their obese counterpart. The author notes limitations of studies in terms of relevant subset of patients with NAFLD.
