- Abstract
The article discusses the use of neurofilament light chain (NfL) as a marker for multiple sclerosis (MS) in clinical practice. NfL can be measured in the peripheral blood and has been used to diagnose and monitor MS. However, NfL lacks diagnostic specificity and should be used in conjunction with other diagnostic criteria. Elevated NfL levels can also indicate disease progression and may be used for prognostication purposes. The article emphasizes the need for standardized measurement techniques and reference ranges for NfL across different populations and neurological diseases.
