- Authors
Korantzopoulos, Panagiotis; Letsas, Konstantinos P.; Tong Liu
- Abstract
The authors discuss several studies regarding the role of xanthine oxidase (XO) and uric acid (UA) in atrial fibrillation (AF). They mention a study which revealed the importance of XO as a source of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in cardiovascular disease. They cite another paper which showed the use of UA as an independent mortality marker for coronary artery disease and heart failure.
