- Abstract
In the article "Defect-Rich Graphdiyne Quantum Dots as Efficient Electron-Donors for Hydrogen Generation," Mohamed Nawfal Ghazzal and his colleagues discuss the role of oxygen defects and the quantum size effect on the properties of graphdiyne. They found that the defect-rich graphdiyne quantum dots act as a chromophore, absorbing a wide range of solar energy and injecting photoexcited electrons into TiO2. This composite demonstrates higher photocatalytic hydrogen production while using a lower amount of sacrificial electron donors.
