- Abstract
The article focuses on orthohantaviruses, a group of RNA viruses found globally and hosted by native rodent species in the Americas, particularly within the Cricetidae family. Some orthohantavirus genotypes cause hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome (HCPS), with Argentina showing high incidence, especially in Misiones province where new reservoirs like Akodon montensis have been identified, suggesting potential underreporting due to socioeconomic factors.
