- Abstract
This article discusses the political persecution of Spanish exiles living in France by the dictatorship of Francisco Franco, whose policy was known as Francoism, during the 1930s to the 1950s. The author examines the nature of the Francoist secret service operating abroad during this time period, particularly in France. A brief history of the Spanish Civil War is given, as well as the relationship between the Spanish government under Franco and the fascist government in Italy. A description of the Spanish spy network and the repressive tactics used against exiles is also provided.
