The Debt of Sin and the Sacrifice in Charity A Thomistic Echo to Gary Anderson's Sin: A History.
- Authors
Hütter, Reinhard
- Abstract
An essay is presented on Saint Thomas Aquinas' theology of salvation and sin based on the book "Sin: A History," by Gary Anderson. It highlights the discussion by Aquinas of the debt of punishment ensuing from sin and his interpretation of Jesus Christ's Passion in the tertia pars and priesthood. It explores the human participation in the satisfactory sacrifice of Christ. It says that the debt of punishment is not merely cancelled through the expiation of Christ for the whole world's sins.
