- Title
From Private Solutions to Public Responsibility and Back Again: The New Domestic Services in Sweden.
- Authors
Platzer, Ellinor
- Abstract
The article deals with the socio-economic change in twentieth-century Sweden and its role in urban households' demands for domestic services. It notes that domestic services were gradually reduced to a small part of the labour market and at the end of the 1960s were nearly absent. The government tried to find ways to improve the conditions and status of the workers and in that way stop their flight from the households.
