- Abstract
Sterilization is the destruction or elimination of all forms of microbial life, and the Material and Sterilization Center (CME) unit for the processing of dental-medical and hospital supplies, which aims to receive, prepare, sterilize and pack materials to distribution to the consumer units. However there must be mechanisms controlling this process, as well as the performance and interpretation of tests for validation of sterilization. The present study aimed to describe the guidelines for CME in a dental school clinic in western Santa Catarina, through a literature review in electronic databases published between 2007 and 2013 in portuguese, full text, whose descriptors: and sterilization protocol. Site visit of the area of reprocessing of medical school materials to better understanding of the process was performed. Several factors affect in adequate dental-medical products such as reprocessing physical structure that enables a unidirectional flow, the form of cleaning and packing, packaging used in accordance with the type of sterilization records necessary legal support for sterilization. This guideline can serve as a model for other medical- dental school, as it contemplates the necessary operation of the CME ducts.
