- Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the perception of mothers against the act of breastfeeding and its influence on speech. Methodology: We conducted a qualitative study in which infants were raised 51 mothers with babies 0-6 months old, only 32 of these responded to the questionnaire, was sought to obtain sufficient information to allow a thorough examination, involving the central issue of research topic, breastfeeding. Results: The survey revealed that 22 (68.7%) had only primary education or incomplete secondary, age ranged between 15 and 37 years, and there was a male predominance with 17 babies. Breastfeeding was positive in 94% of cases. With 88% of mothers, the biggest reason was the importance of breastfeeding for the baby. About the difficulties encountered in the act of breast-feeding was the most cited pain with 22%. The feeling most cited during breastfeeding was 78% with love. In 56% of cases there was a change in the family after the baby's arrival and 97% of the houses the family's reaction was supportive. Regarding the use of complementary feeding 37.5% of mothers breastfeeding implemented with some help, and most mentioned the bottle with 42.9%. Conclusion: Exclusive breastfeeding for longer periods occurred the greater the motivation of mothers. There is also the importance of providing support for these mothers to stimulate their desire to breast-feeding not only the child but also for itself, highlighting its importance and value his act.
