- Abstract
Many glucose-6-phosphate dehidrogenase deficiency carries does not know that they have this enzimopathy, until jaundice episode occurrence, or laboratory results alteration, generally associates with oxidant medicine ingestion. The study searched evaluation this deficiency occurrence in the Cacoal city inhabitants, State of Rondonia, taken care of in the Laboratory School of the Biomedical Sciences of Cacoal College, through qualitative method. Examinations of 129 volunteers had been carried, with age varying between 3 and 81 years old, 42% men and 58% women, where evidenced the positive result in 3.1%, 3 female and 1 male. The results point to significant ratio of women with the deficiency. The qualitative examination for deficiency detention must be implanted in the local laboratory services, for both including more evaluation and the region to be inside in endemic malaria area, that it's dealt with medicine that can take serious intravascular hemolysis occurrence in the deficiency carriers.
