- Abstract
It identifies that the region of Cariris Novos, in the South of Ceará, is today a metropolitan space which aggregates around 28 municipalities. Amid the heterogeneity and specifications of each of these cities, aspects of the local flora and fauna, materialized by the Chapada do Araripe (a plateau), allow the acess to the memories of Kariri's peoples whose territory was named after them. It aims at analysing the indigenous identitary elements elements present in songs (the textual genre) from the yesterday, in the figure of Abidoral Jamacaru, an exponent of the counterculture from the 70's, from the comtemporary production of the band Zabumbeiros Cariris and from the exterior which constitutes Cariri through Junu, a caririense living in Southeast of the country. It concludes that while there is curumins and minstrels armed of words around the world, the Cariri nation will (r)exist and the Kariri people will have a future.
