The article presents a case study of student retention practices in public and private universities in the U.S. It examines the similarities and differences in retention practices between the private institution located in the Midwest U.S. and a public school in Suoutheastern U.S., as well as the student participation requirements and strategic retention goals to understand the educational programming for first year students.
