- Abstract
Relations between England and Hungary were very interesting during the whole middle ages. During the late XVth century on both thrones sat two kings who were very much fond of culture, arts and courtly life. In England that ruler was king Edward IV, who, even though he governed England during the Wars of the Roses, protected arts and enjoyed courtly life. In Hungary, on the other hand, the period of the late XVth century was marked by the Renaissance. King of Hungary was Matthias Corvinus, and his wife, the princess of Aragon Beatrix brought to their country a lot of artists, musicians and the court in Buda was the point where medieval courtly life flourished. One of the most significant symbols of the medieval court was joust. The document concerning three knights who went to perform in front of Edward IV is the topic of the work. They went to England to participate in the courtly games. The document is for the first time presented in modern English.
