- Authors
JORDAN, SHIRLEY
- Abstract
The article analyzes the work of French photographer Stéphane Couturier, focusing on how his portrayals of urban environments reflect the relationship among photography, memory and the contemporary city. Particular attention is given to his series "Archéologie urbaine" and "Melting Point," which show instances of demolition, construction, and renovation in European cities. Couturier's photography is also compared to the work of 19th century photographers.
