- Abstract
The article tries to present a meaningful commentary on the enterprise of sport, providing an account of changes in sports industry over past ten years in the United States. The sport performance segment includes the consumption of sport through spectation and participation. Attendance at many sports events has fallen during the decade. The U.S. participation in sports activities increased about 10 per cent over the last ten years. However, the levels at which people participated in sport have fluctuated enormously according to the type of sport. The sport production segment includes the products and services needs for the production of sports activities and elements that affect the quality of sport performance. The United States Olympic Committee (USOC), once a vast maze of committees and volunteers, has evolved into a streamlined corporate entity. Endorsement earnings for professional athletes have evolved significantly in the last ten years. Sports promotion segment includes sponsorship, endorsements, merchandising, and sport media.
