- Abstract
The article discusses a study to examine the epidemiology of newborns' galactosemia to specify whether screening was necessary for Iranian newborns or not and to identify the symptoms of this disease before or after diet. The study revealed that consanguineous marriage was considered the cause of inheritance of the disease in Iran. It recommended screening for all the families with a history of galactosemia in Iran.
