- Abstract
This article discusses the role of environmental factors in shaping the plant microbiome, specifically focusing on the influence of bacterial and fungal communities on plant responses to water stress. The article highlights recent studies that examine the impact of different genotypes and levels of water stress on bacterial communities in quinoa plants and the relationship between environmental factors and fungal communities in apple fruit. The findings emphasize the importance of understanding plant microbiome dynamics for developing effective crop protection strategies and improving agricultural sustainability. The article suggests that microbiome-based strategies, which manipulate the plant microbiome, offer promising approaches for addressing crop productivity challenges while minimizing the use of harmful chemicals.
