- Abstract
The article discusses an international survey of the state of critical care nursing (CCN) education in Europe. The problems with CCN education identified by respondents include the lack of consistency in student assessment or examination, the lack of national standard for teaching and training nurses in intensive care units (ICUs), and limited work hours or shift work impacting teaching and training in the ICU. It is noted that changes are needed for the nursing workforce across Europe.
