- Abstract
The article focuses on the renewed interest in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) as a rescue therapy for severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Topics discussed include a step-by-step process for the construction of a robust survival prediction model for ARDS requiring ECMO, the influence of the timing of ECMO on prognosis, and the number of organ dysfunctions, especially extrapulmonary, that must be considered before ECMO initiation.
