- Title
Flexibility—the guiding principle for antibody manufacturing.
- Authors
Carson, Keith L.
- Abstract
The article reports that ensuring adequate manufacturing capacity for recombinant and monoclonal antibodies is one of the greatest challenges facing the biotechnology industry. If only a fraction of the antibody products succeed that are now in various stages of development, it will be very challenging for the industry to manufacture the quantity of material that will be needed. Tremendous advances have been made in analytical capabilities and the ability to analyze the structure of molecules. Companies must constantly seek options that will ensure they have the manufacturing capacity they need. A large number of antibody products will be moving through the development process, and a significant number will be licensed.
