The article highlights law and its relation with economics of social norms and presents empirical evidence which shows that law changes social norms. It discusses a case of obesity-related laws in the U.S. and their relationship with peer group norms and reflects that where anti-obesity policies are stricter, social stigma for obese girls increases though obesity rates do not necessarily decrease.
