- Abstract
Introduction: Glomus tumors arise from glomus bodies distributed along parasympathetic nerve along skull base, thorax and neck. They derived from cells of neural crest. Glomus tumors represent 0.6% of the neoplasm of the head and neck. They are the most common tumors of the middle ear. Glomus tympanicum tumor is highly vascular, benign non-cancerous tumours that arise from paraganglia in the middle ear. It commonly manifests with pulsatile tinnitus and reduce hearing. Methods: Clinical report. Results: We reported a lady who presented with pulsatile tinnitus and reduce hearing of her right ear. Radiological investigation revealed type B glomus tympanicum according to Fisch classification. The tumor was excised via transmastoid approach. Conclusion: High index of suspicion with the help of imaging modalities plays important role in diagnosing glomus tympanicum.
