- Abstract
Objective: To study the cube drawing test, 2 types of sample figures were tested for the aged and the young groups. Design: A solid cube and a Neclcer's cube were asked to draw for the 2 groups. Materials and Methods: One hundred and seventy-three aged ambulatory patients, and 148 young healthy volunteers participated in this study. The subjects were asked to draw copying a Necker's cube at first, then a solid cube. The drawn figures were defined to be good or impaired following the scoring methods. Results: For the aged group, 47 patients showed both cubes good, 43 patients showed both cubes impaired, 82 patients showed solid cubes good and Necker's cubes impaired, 1 patient showed a solid cube impaired and a Necker's cube good. For the young group, all volunteers showed both cubes good. Conclusion: A Necker's cube was more sensitive to evaluate the cube drawing test than solid cubes.
