- Abstract
The article focuses on decision taken by the European Commission to implement the "the prevention and control of health care-associated infections (HCAIs)" to improve patients safety during hospitalization. The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control estimates that eight to 12 percent patients during hospitalization experience adverse events such as pressure ulcers. This leads to increase in Medicare costs which are borne by the government.
