It notes that Chabad simultaneously associated international Chanukah menorah lightings with real-time reporting in their "Chanukah Live" spectaculars since 1989. It points out that Chanukah's public celebration offers insight into Chabad's use of simulation and multivalent mediums to Hasidic and secular spaces. However, its status as a minor Jewish holiday is considered socially and politically complex for its modern celebrants in the country.
