LIGHT SENSITIVITY OF EARLY PHOTOGRAPHIC MATERIALS.
- Authors
NEWHALL, BEAUMONT
- Abstract
The article presents notes that indicates the exposure time of early photographic materials. One of the daguerreotype in 1839 is the view of King's Chapel Burying Ground in the George Eastman House collection taken by Samuel Bemis. Another daguerreotype by N. P. Lerebours in his "Treatise of Photography" which gives an exposure table, however, since no lens are indicated, it was of little value. A whole plate required an exposure from 20 to 50 minutes. The Disdéri, L'Art de la Photographic states that portraits in open shade can be made from 6 to 30 seconds.
